This event originates with Mariel Rodriguez cursing Riza Santos inside the PBB - Pinoy Big Brother house.

Riza Santos will no longer sue Mariel Rodriguez but…

Riza Santos’s mother wanted to file an oral defamation case against Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition (Season 2) houseguest Mariel Rodriguez. Her parents flew in from Canada last Dec. 19 to support Riza in her Big Winner bid. During Ruben’s pre-wedding party inside Big Brother’s house, the drunken Mariel cursed Riza and her mom. She did this as a reaction to the statement of Ethel Booba, with whom she had become buddy-buddy, that she had lost Will Devaughn to Riza. Ethel has been vocal about wanting Will, but he has been vocal about his attraction to Riza. Mariel’s verbal attack was so bad that it caused 24/7 to suspend streaming. Of course, this was blipped out of the mainstream show. But Mariel realized her mistake, maybe also grasping that she could be sued for the terrible indiscretion.

On final eviction night, Mariel Rodriguez apologized to Riza Santos. Crying, Mariel Rodriguez offered Riza Santos a bouquet of blooms. As agreed by her parents and management in a meeting last Thursday, there will no court suit.

What they want is for Mariel to make the unusual public apology, not to them but for her.

First male PBB winner emerges

ABS-CBN Entertainment Head Charo Santos-Concio’s facial expression might have indicated frustration upon reading Riza Santos’s name as Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition (Season 2) Second Big Placer. He might not be star material, but Ruben Gonzaga’s declaration as Big Winner produced the first male winner of the high-rating reality show. Previous Big Winners were all females: Nene Tamayo of PBB, Keanna Reeves of PBB Celebrity Edition, Kim Chui of PBB Teen Edition, and Bea Saw of PBB Season 2. This seems to indicate a Visayan vote as winners are either from Cebu or the Visayas/Mindanao regions. Gathering 32.17% of the text votes, Ruben’s votes started to pile up and distance him from the rest of the Final Four a few hours before voting closed. The Luzon vote must have been divided between Riza, Gaby dela Merced and Will Devaughn. The previous day, voting was very close with housemate B (Ruben) enjoying only a small difference from housemate C (Riza). Riza collected 27.33% of the votes, Gaby, 25.50%, while Will, 14.65%. The rousing Hollywood/jazz-style closing ceremony at the jam-packed Araneta Coliseum was one of the best productions in reality shows’ three-year history!

Will not disassociating self from Riza

If there is no schedule change, Riza is headed to Boracay today with Rachelle Ann Go to perform at the birthday party of the Discovery Shores owner. Will was originally part of the entourage. As the “love team” is very viable, Buzzstation checked with Paula Punla, Will’s manager. She explained that she did not permit Will to go to Boracay as she was not informed ahead of time. But she said the love team will continue. Aside from bagging Jag as new endorsement, all of Will’s past endorsements have been renewed, including McDonalds. Will was McDonald’s image model in its Rice Burger campaign. He’s set to shoot a new TVC for the burger chain soon. He’s also set to do a movie with Regal Films and record a CD.
